UAB LOCATION-
On the Campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham
The Premier & Advanced camps will be held at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, located on the southern edge of Birmingham. We know you will enjoy our facilities plus the “college” experience that comes with being on campus. All campers and staff will be housed at Blazer Hall. This new dormitory is a first class building with air-conditioned rooms and private baths in each suite. Our state of the art cafeteria offers all-you-can-eat meals with a wide variety of foods.

Our world class Recreation Center will also be available for indoor swimming and recreation. Eating, sleeping & training, all facilities are state of the art. The UAB Soccer Camp provides an exceptional learning environment. Fine training facilities, Bermuda Grass fields, indoor gyms, an indoor swimming pool, and air-conditioned dorm rooms, all enhance the camp experience. Trained life guards are on duty during all swim times. Campers and staff reside in the same dorms. Staff supervision is 24 hours a day. Our Certified Athletic Trainers are on duty 24 hours a day.
Meals
Camper meals are provided in our brand new state of the art cafeteria on site, adjacent to the dorm. Commuters will be served lunch and dinner while residential campers will eat 3 meals per day. Each meal is all-you-can-eat.
Boys Premier Camp
Dedicated to the individual development of aspiring soccer players, this camp provides an enhanced learning environment. To play your best, you must have the technical ability to control the ball, the tactical ability to make the right decisions and the composure and confidence to excel. Our camp is carefully structured to provide you with training in all three areas. Skill training, small and large group tactics, and 11 v 11 games provide the opportunity to improve every aspect of your game. Our coaches and players, some of the best in the country, are eager to share their knowledge and skills.
Below are some examples for which we recommend this Session:
- My son plays on a club team, the team is pretty good and the kids are becoming pretty serious.
- My son plays for his high school team and does pretty well. He wants to work on his skills and improve his game.
- My son wants to improve his skills and his understanding of the game. He wants to see how good he can be.
Boys Advanced (Academy) Camp
The Advanced camps (our most competitive summer camps) are designed for the more experienced soccer player who is looking for an intensive training program, focused on individual and team tactics. Afternoon and evening games will be highly competitive. The training program includes training by position as well as skill and tactical sessions. This is a great camp for developing your game while challenging yourself against other advanced players.
Older campers who attend this week, will train with college coaches using the same practice plans that are used with their college teams. During staff games they will have the opportunity to play against current and former college players. Campers should have a solid fitness base so they will be able to participate in all camp activities. Older campers will also attend a special classroom session to help orient players to the college recruiting process. Many current UAB players were campers in past years.
It's recommended that advanced campers meet at least one of the following criteria:
- State, or region team experience
- Selected to an all-league, all-county or all-state team.
- Play year round and for a highly competitive club team that travels to out-of-state tournaments.
Below are some examples for which we recommend the Advanced Session:
- My son plays on a travel / competitive club team that often travels out of state to tournaments. Soccer is a large part of our lives.
- My son plays for a very competitive club team as well as his High School Team. He has hopes of playing soccer in college and wants to be exposed to different college coaches.
NEW!
Boys Advanced - Mini Session (3 days only) Rome, Georgia
This NEW Advanced camp will be held at Darlington Academy in Rome, Georgia. Like our other advanced camps, (our most competitive summer camps) it is designed for the more experienced soccer player who is looking for an intensive training program, focused on individual and team tactics. Afternoon and evening games will be highly competitive. The training program includes training by position as well as skill and tactical sessions. This is a great camp for developing your game while challenging yourself against other advanced players.

Goalkeeping Sessions
Specialized goalkeeping sessions are held each week of camp. UAB is known as the breeding ground for top class goalkeepers. Our UAB keepers have been winning awards both nationally & internationally. In fact many of our goalkeepers made it into the pros. Clint Baumstark (2001-2002) left UAB early to sign with the MLS. He was also a member of the USA Under 20 National Team. Loukas Papaconstantinou (1993-1996) played professionally in England for the Darlington Football Club. He is one of only six college keepers to ever play professionally in England. David Clemente (1997-2000) signed with MLS.
Individualized training and evaluation is an important element in our goalkeeper's program. Small and large group training sessions further enhance your opportunities for growth. The combination of individual and team training is what separates this camp from the "Keeper only" camps.
The Staff
Coach Getman has worked hard to bring together a staff of top college and scholastic coaches as well as some of UAB’s top players. Your skills and overall playing ability will improve with the experience & knowledge of our coaching staff. Getting to meet and work with college coaches is a great way to see what different Universities have to offer and a great way to showcase your talent.
